What is Powercast

The Word about Powercast Wireless Power is Spreading

While the technology of wireless power is not necessarily new, it is just now beginning to enter the homes of many of the consumers. Real products that use wireless power are in production and are set to be leaving the shelves at the end of 2007. Consumers and larger companies are starting to really get excited about the fact that Powercast has come up with one of the best wireless transmitters that will effectively change the world of electricity and power as we know it. The word is spreading and most people are very happy that it is.

First shown at CES (Consumer Electronics Association) it became clear very quickly that the word “wireless” as we know it is about to change. Not only did Powercast wireless power demo its technology and receiver to a huge crowd of consumers and investors, it made a big splash with the Consumer Electronics Association as well. Winning the CES’s Best of Show for Emerging Technology in July 2007 for its wirelessly operating low power devices it gave a lot of people something to talk about. Used in small spaces, Powercast has now shown the world how it will work and what it can do.

The CES is looking to promote the growth in the consumer technology industry, and with Powercast it certainly did that. The same day that it was unveiled, there were stories about Powercast’s amazing technology spread about internet and various newspapers and television programs around the world.

The use of the Powercast system is simple and complicated at the same time. It involves a transmitter and a receiver chip that is embedded in the user’s devices such as cell phones, game controllers, hearing aids, and PDA’s. Right now Powercast is working on smaller devices that deal mostly with small batteries such as AA and AAA but they have shown everyone that it can be done. It is only a matter of time before Powercast hits us with the wireless power we need for larger items such as computers.

It is used mostly in a confined space such as a home office and other places where there can be a short range transmitter (about 3 feet). The Powercast’s transmitter broadcasts a certain radio frequency and the receivers are then programmed to sync up to that frequency and draw the power from it, making it truly wireless.

Word is spreading quickly because of their highly coveted “Best of Show for Emergency Technology” award, and word will continue to spread until it is finally done in production and it hits the store shelves. A product of this kind just doesn’t come along very often and when it does, you can bet the technology world is right there waiting, just as they are right now. Pretty soon you will be hearing about Powercast’s wireless technology in just about everything you read or watch. Most investors agree that Powercast is a name that you will be hearing for a very long time.
