The Potential of Powercast Wireless Power

When the Powercast team set about creating their incredible technology and then later patenting their technology in the form of a small receiver, the world didn’t know what was about to take place. The Powercast receiver is definitely going to be an up and coming name that is used on a regular basis now that it is ready to hit the market in late 2007.

It is an incredibly tiny, but super efficient way of receiving circuits that can adjust to variations in the load and field strength of power while maintain a consistent and even DC voltage. When the Powercast system was shown around to different investors, people were immediately taken to it. It seems to be the newest and greatest “invention” than anyone has seen in a long time. In fact, even the FCC was quick to give their approval, and the private sector was quick to invest almost $10 million dollars into the project. The fact that it transmits very safe and low wattages was the winning argument on whether the Powercast Wireless power receiver would become a household name.

With over 100 companies trying to snap up a piece of the Powercast name, the Powercast Company was quick to sign non disclosure agreements to develop products with each and every one of them. This includes major manufactures of MP3 players, cellular phones, temperature sensors, medical implants, hearing aids, and even automotive parts. Just the medical implants and hearing aids alone can be potentially a multi billion dollar market. This means using Powercast to give wireless power to defibrillators, pacemakers, and other medical miracles that save lives. No longer will people need surgery to replace their batteries in their pacemakers, the pacemakers will just recharge themselves in order to keep it working forever. The batteries will last a lifetime, and that is a miracle in itself, and one that companies are banking on.

There isn’t a person on this planet that isn’t looking to get rid of power cords altogether or the batteries that they seem to have to replace all of the time. Just in the cell phone industry alone that could save consumers hundreds of dollars a year when they have to replace their phone because the battery died. Batteries sometimes cost more than the phone itself! People would be more convinced to buy higher model phones if someone said that it would last for years as compared to how quickly they die now. Companies are absolutely seeing the real potential, not just for wireless power, but for Powercast.

It won’t be long before Powercast finds a way to provide wireless power to some of the bigger ticket items such as computers. Although right now computers use more than 10 times the wattage of the Powercast transmissions it is only a matter of time, especially with the investments pouring into the company. Right now the revenue potential of Powercast is huge, and it is only expect to get larger as the years go on.
